It is designed to be usable also in everyday measurements, not only under ideal situations such as in calibrationbaths.
The sensor is smal, it does not conduct heat away from the measuringpoint the same
way as a rigid metallic sensor does. This makes it easier to measure temperature with high accuracy
also under less ideal measuring setups.
